Why 4th not 3rd

I know everyone i asking to post about the ME Division Games Week.

Our Class tok part in the Captain's Ball Game.
Including Qudsia,Ashley and Weina.
EXCLUDE TAN CHIAT LIN!

We lost the 1st match...
lost by only 1point...

However, we win the rest of the matches after that.
As our team name is UDS TEAM.(UDS??-wait... read and u will know)
We dont expect much but if its a win is a bonus.

We dont really understand how the organisers work
but we had a shocked to play for semis.
we were so happy and go for a win.
I, i mean FADZLI. Try to catch as many balls as possible.
UDS TEAM play very well during the semis.

However, by goal different, we have to play for 3rd and 4th placing.
this is the best part of all the matches we played.
haahaa!

we were disscussing about the prize that we gonna get.
3rd place - $50 RSH voucher (what can we buy?? a pair of socks??)
4th place - $45 Co-Op Voucer (tidbits, sweets, lots more!!!)

Project 1 is a follow up from Exercise II, which you guys have submitted to me in Week 3.

In this project you need to convert the 3 terms into OPPOSITE meanings: POWERFUL becomes WEAK etc.

The 3 products that you research, can be totally different products, but must express at least 2 of the 3 opposite meanings. This research is to better facilitate your judgement in your new design.

Please prepare until step (D) for Week 4 lesson (Thumbnails > 5 Concepts > Evaluation Matrix > Final).

Poly plugs gap with new diploma course in business, social enterprise

SINGAPORE: They have the passion to run a sustainable business, but not the skills. They also lack support. These were some of the problems confronting social enterprises that a committee recently identified — and now, Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) will take a step towards addressing these issues.

Its School of Humanities is offering a new diploma in business and social enterprise. For its first intake next year, the school plans to take in 40 students for the three-year programme, which will cover a mix of business and social enterprise modules from the principles of accounting to non-profit organisation management. Just as importantly, students will also be mentored by local and foreign social entrepreneurs and gain hands-on experience by working on social projects.

In their final year, students will be attached to private and public-sector organisations to work on a social enterprise project, either locally or overseas.

Said industry practitioner Alfie Othman, a member of the Social Enterprise Committee: "It's good that a specialised course is being offered and not something that's just part of a bigger course."

Mr Othman, the managing director of Ikhlas Holdings, a catering company that hires ex-offenders and single mothers, added: "This course and the infrastructure recommended by the committee will encourage people to commit to and take a shot at the industry."

On the other hand, while teaching the basics of running a business "would be helpful", the passion and creativity that social entrepreneurship needs is not something to be taught in the classroom, said Lien Foundation Centre for Social Innovation centre director Carolyn Seah.

Its report last week on social enterprise recommended that more courses be launched at the tertiary level to teach the application of business skills in a non-profit sector. "We can create all the infrastructure and support, but that's just half the component. You still need the heart component, which can't be taught," said Ms Seah.

NP's School of Humanities director Choo Cheh Hoon, underlining the "growth potential" of the sector, said the course could help make the sector more "robust" and equip students with a social heart with the right business skills.

A possible partner in the mentorship scheme is the Schwab Foundation for Social Enterprise, which also helps to find internships worldwide. The school will hold its annual open house next month.

My Dear PDI students,
It is the 3rd week of your second semester in NP, I hope everything is going A-Okay for everyone.
If you recall, last semester, I actually told many of you that I would be teaching you again in the second semester, in fact, some of you who accessed the NPal timetable early saw my name in your timetable for the DPAM (Photoshop) module.
Unfortunately, my name was taken out at the last minute because I was being posted by NP to do some other stuff - hence I had no more teaching hours.
I had really looked forward to the classes this semester because the previous semester(HPD) was so much fun with you people , unfortunately things don't always happen as planned .... :-(
Anyway, I will still be in NP so don't forget to say Hi when you see me !
